Our challenge was to help change the citizens perception of the community in which they lived, Bay City. We also wanted to better explain events that were going on in the community as well as feature new, local business so local residents would be more informed.
We started a major public relations campaign with the county newspapers, including coverage regarding new housing options, potential growth of the comity on the horizon, and new businesses and developments— all of which improve the community. We placed billboards throughout the community, created community events flyers and asked partnering civic organizations to distribute, updated all marketing materials with a new fresh look and placed the materials in local magazines, yearbooks, digital media and newspapers. The result was a small shift in perception. The citizens did report feeling more informed about the community as discussed in focus groups.
